We had a great time last Friday so thanks for your help in arranging the round. Unfortunately the Pro Shop was shut but your very courteous Steward booked us in and saw us on our way. I usually leave feedback on uk-golfguide.com so here's my latest missive, which I trust meets with your approval. At least 3 of us look forward to returning - our 4th player had such a nightmare round, he's going to need some serious encouragement to return to your super course. Perhaps we'll put him in blinkers as we approach the club house next time...............

"I don't think I've ever enjoyed being beaten up by a course more! A howling wind and the threat of rain made this spectacular moorland course a real challenge last Friday evening. Our opening salvoes on the downhill par 3 all went well but the wind really makes you think about your approach strategy troughout the round. On paper, 10 par 4s under 350 yards should yield quite a few pars but few are as straightforward as you might imagine with uphill drives, narrow fairways, many more trees and ponds than I expected for a moorland course, 'sucker' bunkers and ditches to keep you honest. First class quality tee beds with firm, running, undulating fairways and quick greens (although hard to hold) were backed up by a series of picturebook views all around the course. Don't overdo your tee shots on 13 and 17 as they're both severe doglegs and the fairways run out quite quickly. Having a gale at our face at the 100yd postage stamp 14th with a terrifying wind turbine just behind us saw our fourball limp away with only 5 points between us. It will be worth going back to play that hole alone. My only regret is that the Pro wasn't at home so we couldn't get a strokesaver - this is a course that will reward you if you had the company of a member first time out. I'd thoroughly recommend this course as a most enjoyable challenge. We'll be back......."

All the best,
Kevin Gibson.
